Jack Swift, Sr. peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family, on September 13, 2016 at the age of 79. Jack was born on November 30, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert F. Swift and Margaret A. Crandall. He attended East High School, and then served his country for 3 years in the United States Army stationed in Germany. Soon after, he married his forever sweetheart Jolene Warner on June 12, 1959. Later solemnized in the Jordan Temple. They welcomed 3 children into their home.
Jack had a long career spanning over 56 years in the ceramic tile business. He was able to work alongside his sons and grandsons teaching them and passing along his skills of the trade. Jack enjoyed spending time with family especially in the outdoors. He spent much time at the property, hunting, and riding his 4wheeler. Most of all he loved going fishing and watching John Wayne movies. He was known for his quick wit and his great knack for cracking jokes.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jolene; two sons: Jack Swift, Jr. (Joyce), Joel Swift (Jennifer); daughter: Joni Velis (Todd), 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Along with many friends, family and favorite niece Michelle Ivie. He is preceded in death by his parents and younger brother and sister Paul and Pauline and his faithful companion of 23 years, Bob the cat.
A gathering to honor Jack with friends and family will be held at 10:00 Saturday, Sept. 17th, at Memorial Mountain View, 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights, followed by a graveside service at 11:00.
