Jack J Kenison

April 10, 1953 — September 1, 2024

South Jordan

Jack J Kenison, 71 peacefully passed away on September 1, 2024, after a valiant and sometimes comical 14-year battle with Alzheimer’s. While Alzheimer’s may have tried to take his memory, it never took his spirit. Known for his quick wit, even in the later stages, he could still manage to make everyone laugh.

Born on April 10, 1953, in Pocatello, Idaho to Lyman Kenison and Gloria Swanson Jack lived a life full of fun, laughter, and adventure. Oh, and the occasional misplaced car keys and phones!

Jack met his wife Sharon Lynn Kenison of 48 years when they were ballroom dance partners on the ballroom dance team at Ricks College. Together, they toured and won multiple medals, their connection on the dance floor translating into a beautiful partnership. They were sealed in the Los Angeles Temple on August 13, 1976, beginning a journey filled with love, laughter, and a bit of choreography.

From a young age, Jack embraced life with a passion . Whether he was snow skiing with his family, golfing, water skiing, racing motorcycles, hunting with his dad, playing the guitar, singing, or acting, Jack excelled at everything he tried. Truly a “Jack of all trades,” he could build or fix anything and was often called upon by friends and family for help. His willingness to lend a hand was matched only by the love he poured into each project, no matter how big or small. A gifted photographer, Jack learned the trade from his grandfather and father, who owned Kenison Photography Studio in Pocatello. His keen eye for detail and ability to capture the beauty in every moment was a gift he shared with many.

Jack served a two-year mission in Norway for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he developed a deep love for the Norwegian people and language. He later shared this passion by teaching Norwegian at the MTC. Jack and Sharon were blessed with four children: Jacob (Melissa), Janelle, Kirsten, and Kyle (Maria). He was the proud grandfather of eight grandsons: Jonas, Jackson, Harrison, Greyson, Dannison, Dillinger, Kayden, and Renly.

Jack and his family also shared a love for theater, participating in plays at the Hale Centre Theatre and other local theatres, where his talents shone as brightly on stage as they did in every other aspect of his life.

We would all like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone at The Peaks At South Jordan for the incredibly gentle, loving, kind, and professional way you treated Jack for the last 2 years of his life. We are in awe of how you took care of him. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Jeg elsker deg (I love you- Norwegian)
