Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jack Elton Miner Sr., passed away on September 17, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born on February 24, 1939, in Bakersfield, California; the second of five children born to John Roundy Miner and Alta Elsie Jane Hawkins. He married Edna Mae Jayo on June 2, 1963. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple.
He graduated at age 17 from East Bakersfield High School, class of 1956. As a member of the diving team, Jack’s passion for diving grew and stayed with him throughout his life. He learned the carpenter trade from his father, and later became a salesman, owning Circle M Enterprises.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and spending time with his family.
Jack became an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in several callings; his favorite being a stake missionary and working security at the Salt Lake City Conference Center. He was an inspiration to many as he shared his life experiences.
Survived by his wife, Edna Miner; Children, Lisa Spaulding (Rex), Elaine Passaglia (Mike), Diane Cooper (Mark), Jack E. Miner Jr., Stephen J. Miner (Meggan): 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Doris Fredrickson; several nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by daughter, Quinn Woolsey; parents John and Alta Miner; sisters, Valeria and Mary Jo; brothers Ron and Jerry.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1845 East 7200 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah, on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
A viewing will be held at the same location on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 PM and again on Friday, one hour prior to the beginning of services, 10:00 AM.
