J. Martinez

October 24, 1941 — November 2, 2013

Jubencio Willie Martinez loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, put up a strong fight before passing away at home, November 2, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
Willie was born October 24, 1941 to Jubencio and Adela Martinez in Holman, New Mexico. Seventeen years later he married his high school sweetheart, Carma V. Martinez, and they just celebrated together their 54th anniversary.
He was the ultimate family man and always cared about others before himself. He loved cars and motorcycles, building at least 33 custom cars. He loved all his car buddies, attending local car shows, playing music, joking with people, and seeing all of his friends and family having a great time.
Willie worked 26 years at Kennecott Corp. Later he worked for Salt Lake and Jordan School District Transportation as Shop Supervisor for a combined 29 years. Willie loved his job and his co-workers. He was the man, the myth, the legend – you would never catch him without his shades on. Willie was known for his great kindness, and his very BIG heart. He will be missed dearly by all. His “Al Pacino” looks will never be forgotten. Willie’s motto is “Built Family Tough!” This will be carried on by his loving family which he praised until his very last breath.
Willie is survived by his “Shining Diamond” wife, Carma; son, Ron (Sabrina), Baby Girl, Julie (Alvie) Jaramillo; son, Danny (Mary Jane); son, Jaymes (Candee); 10 grandkids; 5 great-grandkids; 5 siblings and a special guy he thought of as his own son, Mark Caputo.
Special thanks to IMC Hospice and Gentiva Hospice for their extra loving care to Willie and his family.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 8th, 5 – 9 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 624 W. Lennox St., Midvale. Mass will be held Saturday, November 9th, 10 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior. Family has asked that in tribute to Willie you come wearing shades, he would not want tears, he would want a party. So come celebrate his life with his family and Our Ultimate King!
