Ivan was born March 24, 1926 in Trenton, Utah, a son of Ivan Abraham Hodges and Sophia Oliverson.
Our beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather left us to rejoin his best friend and the love of his life Donna in Heaven. Ivan, Connie and Marlene would like to thank Jim, Darrell and John for sharing their wonderful mother with us. She welcomed us with open arms and changed our father’s life for the better.
Married Erma Nielsen on June 5, 1946; they later divorced. He married Donna Carol Tilt June 27, 1970. Ivan had 7 Children: Connie (David) Ivan (Joan), Calvin (deceased), Marlene (Davedeceased), Jim (Cathy), Darrell (Martha) and John (Melissa); 16 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren who he was very proud of. Ivan also had 3 wonderful sisters Colleen, Marilyn and Barbara (deceased) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ivan loved his country and was proud to serve in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army in World War II. He proudly worked for Kennecott for 35 years until he went on medical retirement.
“Grandpa Hodges” will be missed dearly and has left a wonderful legacy behind. His family was proud of the wonderful example he set as the Patriarch of our family. He taught us to be hard working, kind, generous, loving and honest and how important is was to have a good sense of humor and a positive attitude. His words of wisdom will be carried in our hearts forever as will his love for KFC Chicken! Even though he was on his “last leg” and his “hands didn’t match” he brought joy to everyone around him with his keen sense of humor and sharp wit! We will forever remember that “Every day is a good day… some just require more effort!” because of YOU Grandpa!
A special heartfelt gratitude from the whole family is expressed to his sweet Granddaughter Debbi Pettey and husband Jesse for taking “Grandpa Hodges” into their home for providing him with tender loving care during his final days. The family also wishes to thank the angels from IMC Hospice for their wonderful care.
