Isidore Sanchez

October 28, 1945 — March 12, 2025

Isidore Sanchez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his adoring family after a three year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. His life was a testament to love, service, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Born in Dragerton, East Carbon, Utah, Isidore spent his childhood years in Price, Utah. He received his early education at Notre Dame Catholic School. He later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving with honor at Camp Lejeune, NC and Okinawa, Japan. He received an honorable discharge in 1969. Shortly thereafter, fate led him to Lorraine Barela. They met and were married in 1972 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Salt Lake City, beginning a 53-year love story.

Isidore and Lorraine lived a fulfilling life centered on raising their four daughters. He instilled in them a strong sense of independence, patiently teaching them practical skills such as changing tires, changing oil, and performing small repairs in and around their homes. His generous spirit extended beyond his immediate family; he became a "second dad" to countless others. He was the neighborhood "fix-it" dad, and children would often line up at his door with various items needing repair. An avid outdoorsman, Isidore found joy in camping, hiking, hunting, and shared his passion for fishing with his daughters and grandchildren.

A devout Catholic, Isidore served as an altar boy in his youth. Later, he became a church lector and proudly served in the Knights of Columbus, achieving the esteemed Fourth Degree Knighthood status. His cherished Holy Bible was his most valued possession acting as his moral compass and the blueprint for a life lived in service to God and others.

Isidore was also known for his collection of corny dad-jokes, which brought laughter and joy to those around him. We will miss his silly made up songs and dances, how long it took him to eat a meal (even though it was annoying at the time) and repeatedly teasing him about his funniest moments. These cherished memories will be treasured for a lifetime.

Isidore is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Martina Sanchez, seven brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lorraine Barela Sanchez, and his daughters: Regina Tanner (Matt), Emily Koerbler (Mike), Leandra Lopez (Edgar), and Valerie Bennion (Tim). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Rebecka Olivares, Alexis, Austin, and Colin Tanner, Joshua and Zander Koerbler, Jaemason Bronson, Isaiah and Isabella Lopez, Andrew and Madeline Bennion, and his first great-grandchild, Lainee Bronson.
