Irma H. Keil

July 3, 1935 — January 23, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Oma, Irma H. Keil, on January 23, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on July 3, 1935, in Nuremberg, Germany, to Anna Buser and Hans Wittmann, Irma carried the rich heritage of her homeland into every aspect of her life.

She was a devoted wife to Hans H. Keil, with whom she shared a love story spanning decades. They married on July 6, 1956, and soon embarked on a new chapter in America, building a life full of love, adventure, and family. Their bond was unbreakable, and their hearts remained intertwined until Hans’s tragic passing on August 17, 2020. Together, they embraced their love of travel, taking numerous trips across Europe and often bringing their children along to visit family overseas.

Irma was a deeply cherished mother to her three children, Louise Koenig, Peter Keil, and Hans E. Keil, as well as a proud and loving Oma to seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Her home was a haven filled with laughter, love, and the delicious aroma of her cooking.

Renowned as the world’s greatest cook, Irma shared her German heritage through the meals she lovingly prepared. Her grandchildren fondly remember mornings filled with endless batches of German pancakes after sleepovers, a tradition that brought joy to all. Every Christmas, she cooked her signature Rouladen dinner—a tradition her family will faithfully honor for generations to come. Irma’s acts of service, her love language, were most evident around her dining table, where family and friends often gathered to share her heartfelt creations.

Irma had a deep love for reading and often shared her passion with her children and grandchildren. She believed in the importance of books and worked to pass that love along to the next generation. Mysteries were her favorite genre, and the stories she read aloud became treasured memories for her family.

Her passion for gardening was unmatched, and her vibrant garden was admired by all who visited. Her knowledge of flowers was encyclopedic, and her green thumb turned every plant into a masterpiece.

Above all, Irma was known for her boundless kindness and her unwavering compassion. She never let anyone go hungry and was deeply concerned about the well-being of others, especially the less fortunate around the world. Family was her greatest treasure, and she dedicated her life to nurturing the people she loved.

Irma H. Keil’s legacy of love, generosity, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with gratitude and love.
