Sunday, March 31, 2019 our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Aunt Irene V. Gonzalez passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 27, 1939 to Elena Valdez and Epifanio Martinez in Capulin Colorado. She settled in Utah where she raised her three children and met the love of her life Antonio R. Gonzalez, whom she married in April of 1983. Her joys in life were taking care of all her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Christina (Michael) Woltkamp, son John Martinez and son-in-law Brian F. Rios. Brothers Robert and Eddie Martinez. Grandchildren Felipe (Amanda) Rios, Timothy Rios, Destiny (Matt Palza) Rios, Lindsay (Jerren) Kjar, Ana (Skylar) Young, Antonio Martinez, Galen (Stuart) Moon-Woltkamp, Rick (Kelly) Woltkamp, Leona (Ray) Morris and Emily Slade. Twenty three great grandchildren Jayleen, Ethan, Elias, Silas, Solomyn, Sean, Jayceon, Shaylin, Nevaeh, Breonna, Jade, Brandon, Nyomi, Landon, Gabriel, Benjamin, Raeziel, Roxyanna, Hailie, LaRae, Gideon, Rocky and Alexis. Irene is preceded in death by both her parents and step father Jake Montana, husband Antonio Gonzalez, son Felipe Rios and brothers LeRoy, Antonio and Eppy Martinez.
A viewing will be held Friday April 5, 2019 at 6:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT, 84123. Funeral mass will be Saturday April 6, 2019 at 10:00 AM with a half hour prior viewing at St. Patrick Church, 1058 West 400 South, Salt Lake City, UT, 84104. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Mortuary.Service Information
