Iosefa “Joe” Salea, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend was called home to our loving Heavenly Father on March 23, 2025. He was a generous compassionate soul who loved the Lord and his Gospel wholeheartedly. He was humble, kind, loving, and paternal to all of nieces and nephews; considered a "second dad" to many. He had a BRILLIANT intellect in both spiritual and secular aspects; his love and passion for learning was endless.
“Joe” was born on November 22, 1940 in Sauniatu Samoa to Noa Maugatai and Saini Utuoge. He was raised by his beloved grandparents: Faifili and Pama Salea. He married Emma Laufou Salea on December 2nd, 2012 and was preceded in death by his late wife, Inna Schwalger Salea in 2011. He received his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Church College of Hawaii (BYU-HAWAII) and went on to receive his Masters of Education degree from BYU PROVO. He served as an Ordinance Worker in the Jordan River Temple.
Survived by his wife, Emma Laufou Salea; son, Fred (Shenna) Frost, son, Francis (Veronica) Frost ; son, Michael (Brielle) Sabir, son, Seiki (Elaine) Filiaga; daughter, Annisha (Vaifoa Jr.) Lealaitafea; Son, Ovini (Bernadine) Salea; daughter, Heka (Jimmy) Snuka; daughter Lelei Salea; hanai daughter, Sunshine Aumua; nephew, Sarona (Leni) Salea; and niece, Salote Salea. 25 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brother, Mau’u Ioapo (Loto Vui) Pu’epu’emai, and sister, Fa’afetai (Aleki) Schuster.
Preceded in death by angelic daughter, Melissa Penina Salea; brother, Vaipua Noa; brother, Pu'epu'emai Melekeuli Pu'epu'emai; brother, Pa'ulaau Pu'epu'emai 1; brother, Pa'ulaau Pu'epu'emai 2; brother, Kalama Pu'epu'emai; brother Fa'amanu Pu'epu'emai; brother, Ioane Salea; sister, Penina Salea Tuimaualuga; brother, and brother, Tupu Salea.
Funeral services on April 1st, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the LDS Sauniatu Samoan Ward, 4950 South 1950 West Taylorsville, Utah. Family service is at 9 a.m. Burial to follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
