Ilse Theodora Pereira Horstmanshoff

Ilse Theodora Pereira Horstmanshoff, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes while taking a nap on June 7, 2020.
Ilse was born on March 18, 1929, in Malang, East Java, Indonesia.  In 1949 she married Johannes (John) Horstmanshoff.  One year later they emigrated to The Netherlands, their home for 12 years.  As a family of ten, in 1962 they moved to Salt Lake City.  Three more children were born in Salt Lake City.
Ilse’s great love and calling in life was raising her 11 children.  Ilse’s children have fond memories of her loving and tireless efforts in making the family home a place filled with love, acceptance and happiness.  Later she brought that same love to helping care for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ilse was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, husband John, and son Stan.  She is survived by children Roy (Linda, deceased, & Jennifer), Margo (Daniel, deceased) King, Steven (Cathy), Andy (Kevin Cooper), Ernest (Gary Horlacher), Sharon (Dwayne) Bird, Larry (Veronica), Leraine, Bianca (Jimmy) Glasker,  Marcelle, 24 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 11:00 am (outside under a large tent with seating provided) at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 E. 7800 S. (Bengal Blvd.), with a viewing at 10:00 am one hour before the service.  The mortuary notes that you may bring your own lawn chairs. Please see instructions below for streaming instructions.
