Ilene Dial Gygi, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 29, 2015 in Salt Lake City, UT. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and an active member of the LDS church.
Ilene was born to William Hiram Dial and Della Lovisa Beckstrand on May 17, 1933 in Shelley, ID. She married Orson Paul Gygi on November 10, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple.
She learned to play the piano at age 5 and the organ at 14. Ilene used that talent to joyfully serve as the organist for several years, as well as other callings in the LDS church. She also enjoyed crocheting, genealogy and caring for those she loved.
Ilene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Michael Paul, her daughter,
Cheryl Winters, her brothers Leland, Linden and Jay, her sisters Ada Taylor and Gladys Best. She is survived by her daughter Korene Bird, son Gary Gygi (Susan), 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, her brother Francis and her sisters Ina Andrus and Leona Kelly.
She was loved by all that knew her and will be missed. We are so happy that she has returned to our Father in Heaven and has been reunited with those that passed before her.
Friends may visit at Holladay~Cottnwood Mortuary, 4670 S Highland Drive, on Thursday, October 8th from 6 – 8pm. Graveside service will be Friday, October 9th at Holladay Memorial Park at 11:00 am.
