Idella Marie (Tanner) Murri

August 20, 1936 — March 19, 2024

South Jordan

Idella Marie Murri passed away at home with her family surrounding her on March 19, 2024. She was born on August 20, 1936 in Jerome County, Idaho. She was the daughter of Afton LaVon Tanner and Iola Annabelle Mecham Tanner as the second of six children.

She attended and graduated from Jerome High School in 1954. During her senior year, she met the love of her life, an airman who was the brother to a neighbor of her family. Immediately after graduation, Idella married Maurice Alvin Murri in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 2, 1954.

She became an instant Air Force wife and accompanied Maurice to Walker Air Force Base near Roswell, New Mexico to finish his 4-year commitment. After returning to civialian life, they returned to Twin Falls, Idaho, where Rodney, their first son was born.  By September of 1956, Maurice got tired of having many jobs with little pay and reenlisted in the Air Force which led to their career of 20 years.

She traveled with her husband to Sacramento, California, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, back to Sacramento and then on to Ramstein, Air Force Base in Germany, where they added to their family with Scott, Valarie and Brian. After returning to the states, they lived in Clovis, New Mexico and then to Mountain Home, Idaho where they added RaShelle and Amber.

After a 20-year Air Force journey, they retired in September of 1972 and made their home in South Jordan, Utah.

Idella enjoyed quilting and crafting. She worked at the South Jordan library and as the Director of the Foreign Exchange Students in South Salt Lake. She was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by Rodney (Marcie) Murri, Scott (Babette) Murri, Valarie (Nick) Sasich, Amber Murri, Tazia (Joe) Vendetti, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Eldon (Anita) Tanner, sister, Aloha (Jim) Humphries, sister, Renee Romans, sisters-in-law Adele Tanner and Vergene Tanner.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, RaShelle Gilroy, son, Brian Murri, husband, Maurice A Murri, parents, Afton and Iola Tanner, and two brothers, Merlyn Tanner and Zoland Tanner.
