Hyrum Kelm Uhlstein

October 22, 1956 — September 15, 2021

Hyrum Kelm Uhlstein passed away aged 64 in Bountiful, UT on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.
He was born on October 22, 1956 to Gisela Anita Margarete Kelm and Herbert Uhlstein.
Hyrum loved martial arts. He studied Karate during his teenage years, and continued to progress in the art throughout his life. During his junior high and high school years he was very involved with stage crew, with his main emphasis on lighting. During the summer of 1975 he was chosen to be on the lighting crew for the stage play Saturday’s Warrior, which ran 86 sold out performances in the old South High School auditorium in Salt Lake City.
Hyrum served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Frankfurt, Germany during 1976-1978. He worked as an Electronic Technician for the semiconductor industry for 32 years. He was well respected, intelligent, and given many responsibilities throughout his career. After his father had his first heart attack, Hyrum decided to move in with his parents in order to care for them. He did so for 21 years. He was a friend and beloved companion to them. To his brothers, he was the greatest big brother ever. He was always there with a helping hand, willing to give his time and energy to any request, no matter how unusual. To his nieces he was a kind, fun, and charitable uncle who always found subtle ways to show his love and support. They have many happy memories of shoulder rides and tree climbing when they were young, and heartfelt, unobtrusive generosity in their adult years.
Hyrum had many hobbies which included science, space, computing and gaming. He enjoyed camping and 4 wheeling, and would go deer hunting every year. He loved his family, and they remember him as one of the most peaceful people to walk the earth. His laughter and open heart will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Hyrum is survived by his father, Herbert; and brothers, Daniel (Robyn) and David (Manami). He is preceded in death by his mother, Gisela Anita Margarete Kelm.
