Horace Thayne Christensen

Our beloved Horace Thayne Christensen passed away peacefully on March 25th at the age of 85.  Thayne was with his wife Patricia and his grandson Bradley when he passed.  Thayne was loved by many and was the kindest, most gentle man who always put his family first.  Thayne was born in Logan Utah and grew up in Logan and Salt Lake City.  Thayne served an LDS mission in New Zealand and was one of the first Mormon missionaries on Niue Island.  A book was written about him and his mission companion.  Thayne served in the United States Army during the Korea conflict.  Thayne retired from the University of Utah where he worked for 31 years.  Thayne loved the Utes and worked on the scoreboards for football and basketball games, as well as gymnastic meets.  Thayne was a hard worker and had incredible character and was an inspiration to many.  Thayne is survived by his wife Patricia Christensen, his children Debbie, Paul, Steven, Carolyn, and Greg, his grandchildren Bradley, Dannielle, Jessica, Megan, Cole, Sofia, and Emma, great grandchildren Kody, and Jeremy, his Brothers Rawland, Dee, and his sister Blanche.  Thayne is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joanne.  A viewing will be held on Friday, March 31st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lake Hills Memorial Mortuary 10055 South State Street in Sandy Utah.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday April 1st at 12:30 pm at the LDS Chapel on 2400 East Alta Canyon Drive in Sandy Utah.
