Herman Jefferson Lowe

October 29, 1948 — September 18, 2017

Herman Jefferson Lowe 68, of Magna Ut. passed away suddenly on September 18, 2017. He was born to Theodore Jackson Lowe and Jetta Lee (Leeder) Lowe on October 29, 1948 in Clovis, N.M. In 1970 he married his sweetheart, Nellie M. Ford.
Herman was preceded in death by his father Theodore Jackson Lowe, and is survived by his mother, Jetta Lee Lowe of Hobbs, New Mexico, his wife, Nellie, his children and their spouses Jerry (Shauna) Lowe, his daughter, Regina (Carl) Enman, and his wonderful grandchildren, Garrett and Kenadie Lowe, Taylor and Cheyenne Enman.
Herman graduated from Hobbs High School in 1968. That same year, Herman joined the Navy and served from 1968-1970, during which time included a tour of duty for the Vietnam War. Herman also served in the Navy Reserves from 1978-1988. In 1988 he changed military branches and transferred to the Army Reserve. He finally landed in the Utah National Guard in 1990 and served as a First Cook for 12 years during which time included a tour of duty for Operation Desert Storm. He retired his military services on November 4, 2001. Herman worked in civil service and retired from Hill Airforce Base as a Facilities Maintenance Engineer.
Herman became a minister for the Church of God of Prophecy in 1974. Herman was promptly given the opportunity to pastor his own church in Kalispell MT. During Herman’s ministry, he pastored numerous churches throughout Montana, New Mexico, and Utah. We know Herman is enjoying his heavenly reward for the many lives he touched during his service to God and man throughout his ministry.
Being ever the servant Herman joined the Salt Lake City Chaplaincy in 1998 and served in that capacity until his death. We know many people’s lives were greatly touched by his service during some of the most difficult time of their lives. Something his family is particularly touched by at this time.
There is not a word in the English language to sum up Herman’s life other than to say Servant! He was the epitome of Christ’s love! There was not a stranger Herman could not befriend or a baby he would not have gladly adopted as his own…he loved Everyone! As a husband, Herman was constantly finding ways to show his love to the love of his life. He was the perfect example of what a loving husband should be. As a dad, he created loving structure, and set the most amazing example for how to treat others. He never left any doubt of his love for his kids and this love extended, in equal measure, to their spouses. Herman’s most cherished role was as a Grandfather. He was a beloved Papa, and his grandkids adored him!
Herman was a jack of all trades and master of some. Probably his greatest talent was his ability to build and work with wood. He still had most of his fingers, he was missing the tip of one finger. He had the ability to learn just about any trade in which he could use his hands. He spent his life using his talents to help people in any way he could.
Herman had an avid love for camping, fishing and hunting. He had many buddies to go with on all these types of excursions.
He never met a stranger, and no baby ever got passed without him playing with them. Herman touched many lives throughout his lifetime. He loved His Father in heaven and lived to fulfill His Word to “love others.” He lived a life of service just as His heavenly Master did. He was the happiest when he was doing something to help others.
