Henning Hoj

August 24, 1930 — August 19, 2014

Henning Hoj, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully from this life on Aug 19, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 83.
Henning was born in Denmark on Aug 24, 1930 to parents Jens and Karen Hoj. He was raised in Denmark where he enjoyed a loving childhood and experiences that he spoke about throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Inge, his four living children and their spouses: Suzanne (Myron) Wills, Peter (Shauna), Linda (Chuck) Googe, Tim (Jenn). He has 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger siblings, Otto and Ingrid.
On November 12, 1955 Henning married the love of his life Inge Hansen in Denmark soon after receiving his college education in engineering. This began an exciting life together of travel and experiences worldwide. They traveled and worked in Canada and in the USA. Utah became a favorite location in this journey and ultimately the place they decided to consider home to raise their family. Henning and Inge became convert members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Henning fulfilled many different callings and opportunities. Henning served twice as a bishop and as a counselor in the Stake Presidency in the Holladay Utah Stake.
Henning was a visionary individual with a hard work ethic that served him and those around him in a powerfully productive way. His interests received his total dedication, which included his Family, his Church and Savior and his career. He started a corporation, Hoj Engineering, as a sole proprietor that this year celebrated its 50th anniversary. His work family was very important to him as they shared his passion in creating a work experience centered on bringing value and service to others.
Henning had many opportunities to lead those around him, as an employer, a church leader and most importantly as a father and husband. His example to his family and those who knew him understood the foundation that his character and commitment was built upon. He enjoyed time off with his family at Bear Lake.
One of his most enduring qualities was his complete adoration and love for his wife Inge, who together enjoyed a wonderful marriage relationship that spanned 59 years. Another enduring quality that he carried throughout his life and in his remaining days was his sense of humor. Henning was a fun individual with a healthy sense of humor that was often seen in all areas of his life. People loved him, and they enjoyed the time spent with him. His impact on our fondest memories will stay close with us all and will last the test of time.
