Salt Lake City, Utah-Helmut Theo Klunker, 79, peacefully passed away from cancer while surrounded by family on September 8, 2015. He was born on October 6, 1935 in Hamburg Germany, the son of Arno Paul Bruno Klunker and Johanna Gerber.
He came to the United States in December of 1954. He served in the Swiss-Austrian Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1956-58. He enlisted in the Army Reserves for 6 years when he returned home from his mission. He also became an American Citizen in 1962. He married the love of his life JoAnn Bryant on May 24, 1962 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked in window display for ZCMI and Castleton’s before starting his own custom painting/decorating company. He served in various church callings and was always a faithful member.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn of 53 years; 7 children Bryan (Lisa), David (Noelle), Dianne (Greg), Elizabeth (Ramsey), Mark (Ty), Stephen (Kristin), Michael (Kassy), 21 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and brother Siegfried (Eva).
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Paul Klunker
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 14 at the Brighton 5th ward 2335 E Bengal Blvd (7800 S.) A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday Sept. 13 at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary 3115 E 7800 S and one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery.
