Helge Walther passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family on March 18, 2024 in West Jordan, Utah after bravely fighting cancer for over a year.
He was born on February 15, 1942 in Hamburg, Germany, Helge led a fulfilling life as a Metal Finisher. He had a strong work ethic since his youth in Germany and always provided for his loved ones. Helge was a dedicated and hardworking individual who always made the most of his opportunities. He had a love for the great outdoors and enjoyed activities such as camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and traveling. Family was his top priority and he was a devoted and caring husband to his wife Mary Lou. He enjoyed his weekly sibling luncheon, cherishing the bond they shared over meals. Helge took immense pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was a source of inspiration and love to them all.
He is survived by his siblings Boris, Katja (Raul), Monika (Karl) and Michael (Ann) and his three grandchildren, Nicole Hillman, Candice Koeller (Nathan Gross), and Michael Koeller, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Kinzley, and Penelope. Helge was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Walther, and two daughters, Judy Koeller and Marcia Walther. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Murray Mortuary on Sunday, March 24th from 4:00-6:00pm and on Monday, March 25th from 12:00-2:00pm. A graveside service will follow at Redwood Memorial Cemetery in West Jordan at 2:30pm, with a light dinner to follow at Helge's residence.
He will be remembered as a strong, proud, and good man by all who knew him. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Shami's team at Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Dr. Shortridge's team at Utah Cancer, Home and hospice staff, and all the other physicians who were involved in his care since his initial diagnosis. Helge's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him as they cherish the memories they shared together.
