Helga Fassmann Kupitz, 82, was born October 18, 1930 in Zwickau, Germany to Walther Fassmann and Anna Clara Foerster. She passed away January 30, 2013.
She immigrated to America in 1952 with just two dollars in her pocket and became a U.S. citizen in 1971. She married Heinz N. Kupitz on December 15, 1955 in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Mom had a great love for the gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoyed going to the temple. Even when mom’s eyesight failed she still enjoyed knitting slippers as she listened to her books on tape.
Survivors include her husband Heinz N. Kupitz, sibling Walter Fassmann (Inge), children Heidi (Rainer) Neumarker, Hyrum Kupitz, Helga-Lee (Robbie) Bumgarner and Helma Kupitz, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren (with two in the oven).
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Heinz, sister Erika Mueller and her two son-in-laws Rainer Neumarker and Robbie Bumgarner.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the LDS German Ward Building 721 S 1200 E, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held from 6-8 Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Murray Memorial Mortuary 5850 S 900 E, Murray Utah, and one and a half hours prior to services at the church.
