Helen Rae Olson

April 6, 1928 — April 25, 2022

Helen passed away on April 25, 2022 in Eagle, Idaho.  She was born on  April 6, 1928 in Mount Pleasant, Utah to Ray Lamar Allred and Gertrude Mariar Rolfson.  She is survived by Michael F. Olson (Kay), Terrie O. Buck (Charles), 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceeded in death by Ray and Gertrude Allred, (parents) Frank M. Olson (husband), Elaine Voorhees (sister), Dorothy Babbel(sister).
 
Helen grew up in Mount Pleasant, Utah working on the family farm.  She loved to sing, read, play baseball, go on walks.  She worked at the 4-C malt shop where she met Frank Olson and they were married on May 21, 1948, in the Manti Temple. They then moved to Salt Lake City on the west side where Michael was born on November 16, 1949.  Eleven months later Terrie was born on October 14, 1950.  They moved near the University of Utah and then lived back on the west side for several years until they moved to the Sugarhouse area, where she lived until moving to Eagle, Idaho to live with her daughter and near other grand daughters  and several grandchildren.
 
She worked as a waitress at the Segull Cafe for a friend who owned it until deciding to branch out into something different.  She was hired to be the secretary- receptionist at Vulcan Steel Corp. and then was hired as the program director’s secretary at KSL radio, where she retired.
 
Helen served in church callings such as  Primary Presidency member for many years, a Young Women leader and Relief Society President at age 80. She also served a Church Service Mission in the Bishop’s Storehouse in the soap factory.
 
She was the matriarch of 4 generations and will be missed by all of them.
