Helen Petrogeorge McStotts, age 92, one of the most beloved Wife, Mother and Yia Yia, passed away February 2, 2016.
Born Sunnyside Utah May 19, 1923 to Chris and Pauline Petrogeorge. Married Donald Benjamin McStotts on September 8, 1945 and had 5 children, Cathie, Donald Jr, Tiny Hope, Charles and Phillip.
Mom’s greatest joy was being the best Mother and Yia Yia in the world to her children, 10 grandchildren (Lisa, Pauline, Nick, Jennifer, Donnie, Cody, Michelle, Phill, Stephanie, Kelli), 21 great grandchildren and 1+ great-great grandchild.
Mom was proud to be a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church and provided many years of volunteer service at the Church’s annual Greek Festival. She was also a member of Daughter of the Minos, performing many philanthropic works and with whom she was celebrated as Mother of the Year in 2003. She was a waitress/Assistant Manager at Woolworths for 35 years and always enjoyed meeting different types of people and making friends from many walks of life. They celebrated her as one of their National Employees of the Year in 1969. She made the best baklava, kalisunia, and dolmathes in the whole Greek community.
She Valued family above all else – her family ALWAYS came first. Donald and Helen bought recreational property and, with the help of their kids, eventually built a cabin which the family has enjoyed for the past 53 years, during which many notorious pinochle games were held.
Helen grew up during the depression that instilled a deeply frugal attitude. This was counterbalanced by her extreme generosity to her family.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Tiny Hope, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Survived by her children, Cathie (George) Pappas, Donald Benjamin Jr. (Linda), Chuck (Kristine), Phill (Gail); sister Olive Paras, her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
