Helen Louise Lehman Hunsaker

September 26, 1925 — January 5, 2018

A beautiful, blue-eyed wife “Blondie,” mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a friend to all. Helen Louise Lehman Hunsaker, 92, left us unexpectedly on January 5, 2018, surrounded by family.
Born September 26, 1925 to August & Martha Lehman in Granger, UT. She was the youngest of 14 children.
After Helen graduated from Granite High School, she worked for Heber J. Grant insurance company in Salt Lake City. A few years later she served an Eastern States LDS mission. Living on 5th Avenue in New York City was a highlight. There she met Elder Hunsaker, her future husband, who would be the love of her life for over 65 years. She married Shorland in the Salt Lake Temple June 20, 1952.
Helen had a zest for life! She was optimistic, kind, loving, and affectionate. Helen could strike up a conversation with anyone and had the ability to make everyone feel special. She was an excellent pianist, enjoyed traveling, sewing, doing the word jumble, hand washing dishes, sweeping the sidewalk, baking her sweepstakes winning lace coffee cakes, encouraging the use of common sense, nature, KFC, and was an avid viewer of The Lawrence Welk Show and The Price is Right. She was lucky enough to win a TV as an audience member at “The Price”. A favorite pastime was watching the World Series, basketball, golf, and football, “Go Utes!” Helen also loved playing games, some favorites were Yahtzee, Tripoley, and Pollyanna. She even participated in a family Bunco group for 38 years. Family lunch at Chuck-A-Rama with her siblings was an event she looked forward to each and every month. She spent many wonderful weeks at Snowbird with her family over the span of 40 years. She loved life and always looked forward to the next adventure.
Helen is survived by her husband Shorland; 6 children, Helen Jane, Shorla, James (Karen), Dudley (Kym), Susan (Ronald), Randall (Paige); 13 grandchildren Andrew, August (Jessica), Kory (Monica), Heidi (Ryan), Corbin, Parker (Natalie), Samantha, Dustin (Ashlynd), Bailee (Brady), Brooke, Allison, Cash, Chadwick; 11 great-grandchildren Isaac, Hayden, Kaleb, Brielle, Londyn, Abigail, Harrison, Blake, Henry, Seth, Eliza, and 2 more on the way; 2 sisters Ruth Johnson (100) and Cleo Barthule (95); many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 7 brothers; 4 sisters; daughter Sally (Susan’s twin); great-granddaughter Claire; son-in-laws: Stephen Higdon, Richard McCarver.
