Helen Hanson Kiholm died on January 10, 2018 at the age of 88. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Darl and Andrew Hanson, Helen attended local schools and graduated with a BA in Sociology from the University of Utah, where she was an active member of the Tri Delta sorority. After college, Helen married Edward I. Kiholm and they shared a loving marriage and friendship for 42 years. In addition to raising a family, Helen was involved in managing real estate investments, and was instrumental in founding, along with her husband, several national merchandize brokerage firms.
Helen resided in Holladay for most of her adult life and was active in many SLC civic organizations. She was a long-term member of the Cottonwood Club where she enjoyed tennis, golf and bridge with her many friends. She was an outstanding bridge player, earning the designation of Life Master, and some of her fondest memories were of competing, along with her bridge partners, at the SLC Bridge Center and beyond. Consistent with her love of sports, she was proud of her many bowling trophies and tournament wins.
Helen was also a member of the SLC Town Club, serving in several roles, including as President from 2002-2004. She was an inspiring person to know and a wonderful friend, loving mother, and devoted spouse, who was appreciated for her cheerful and optimistic outlook and for her wit and charm. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and her sister, Roberta. Helen is survived by her son, Stephen (daughter in law, Ana), her daughter, Janet (son-in-law Richard), and grandchildren Kelly, Erin, Jonathan, Emily, and great grandchild, Ethan.
Friends are invited to a casual reception to honor Helen on Monday evening 6-8 at the Memorial Holladay-Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive. Graveside services for the family will follow on Tuesday morning.
