Helen Edith Arlt Eklund

Helen Edith Arlt Eklund, age 87, passed away on July 31, 2016, in South Jordan, Utah. She was born on December 30, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to Henry and Hedwig Arlt. Helen married Eldon Elof Eklund on November 20, 1947.
She loved gardening, decorating their home, swimming, teaching piano lessons, boating, waterskiing, camping, sewing and tending her grandchildren. She played the piano and organ for countless church road shows, choirs, funerals, “singing mothers”, but she especially enjoyed playing the piano for our father to sing solos for various occasions. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Sainst and served in many capacities. Helen enjoyed working for Dr. Maitland Spencer for 29 years.
Helen is survived by daughters: Carol McBride (Brian), Heidi Bletzacker (Grant), and Dianne Forward (Morris), and her sister, Arlene Smart. She is preceded in death by her husband, Eldon and daughter Cynthia Sheeley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT. A viewing will be held prior to services beginning at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow services at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery. Visit www.MemorialUtah to leave condolences.
