Helen Dianne (Diny) Allen
April 3, 1944 — May 30, 2022
Helen Dianne (Diny) Allen passed away very peacefully on the 30th of May, 2022 at her home in Murray, Utah, following an extended illness. Her husband of 58 years was with her when she bid farewell.
Diny was born April 3rd, 1944 in Murray, Utah. She was the daughter of Marion Morley Shomaker and Dorothy June Meissner. She had two sisters, Sandy (older), and Judy (younger). Diny was known as the peacemaker in her family and she carried that special spirit throughout her life.
She graduated from Jordan High School in 1962.
In 1963 she married Fredrick Albert Allen. They were later sealed in the Swiss Temple. They had three children; Teri, Lisa, and Brandon.
Fred was an officer in the United States Army on active duty for 27 years. They served together in Germany, Korea, Hawaii, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Kansas. She held the family together while Fred served a year in Vietnam.
Her favorite assignment was in Korea where Diny worked in the installation’s gift shop. Her job was shopping in Seoul to buy items to stock the shelves, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
Some of her most memorable experiences were traveling to the Holy Land where she rode a camel up to the Great Pyramid and visited the Garden of Gethsemane. Together they visited fourteen countries.
During her last ten years she belonged to the Corvette Club of Utah. She owned a 2003 Corvette that she helped reach 106000 miles, taking it coast to coast and border to border in the United States. She was an amazing seamstress. Dianne was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints during her entire married life. She served in the Jordan River Temple for four years and the LDS Family History Center at the Utah State Prison for five years.
She is survived by her spouse, Fredrick A. Allen, her daughters, Teri Anne (Gary) Christensen, Lisa, her son Brandon, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Sandy.
Her funeral will be June 9th, 2022 at 11:00AM at the Murray 32nd Ward Chapel.Service Information
