Helen Walker Bush Carpenter, 78, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2014.
She was born October 23, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Amos and Lily Walker Bush. She attended LDS Business College and was employed at Deseret Federal, had a home bookkeeping business, and worked at LDS Hospital as a nursing administration secretary for 25 years. On September 25, 1959, she married Alma LeGrand Carpenter in the Salt Lake Temple. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Helen served as a Sunday School secretary for 36 years.
Helen enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, attending plays, fine dining, Jazz games, camping, scrapbooking and crocheting. She made Afghans for all of her posterity. She had an infectious laugh and delighted in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and new great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her children, Kristin (J.D.) Adams, Sharon (Craig) Homewood, Angela Eldredge, Philip (Janelle) Carpenter, Gregory Carpenter, ten grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Alma.
Helen and her family would like to thank the North Canyon Care Center staff, residents (go Ring-a-Lings!), and branch members for their loving care, friendship, and kindness towards her. She felt very loved and grew so much while there.
