Heidi Erna (Voggenreiter) Hardy passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on October 12, 1937, in Nuernberg, Germany, to Rosa and Michel Voggenreiter. Heidi’s early life was marked by the trials of war. Despite the hardships, she often spoke of the warmth and comfort provided by her beloved mother Rosa and her aunt "Tante Fanny," whose love and care left an indelible mark on her spirit.
In 1957, Heidi embarked on a transformative journey, immigrating to the United States aboard the Superliner United States, arriving through Ellis Island, New York. This voyage sparked her lifelong love of cruising, a joy she carried with her throughout her life, eventually embarking on over 30 with her husband Gene.
A gifted seamstress, Heidi worked at several companies over the years, including Siemens in Germany, Stover Bedding & Manufacturing Company, Lofgreens, Jet Camper, Wahlen Brothers, and Douglas Duncan Design. Known for her exceptional skill and dedication, her creations were celebrated for their quality and precision, especially her beautifully sewn seams and pillows.
Heidi is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Eugene Hardy, her cherished son Brian, daughter-in-law Jayme, and her beloved grandchildren Erika and Everett, who brought immense joy to her life. Her family and faith were the cornerstones of her world, and she found solace and strength as a longstanding attendee of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in West Jordan.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 300 East 11800 South, Draper, Utah on Friday November 22nd, 2024 at 1:00 pm to honor and pray for the repose of her soul. Burial services to follow at 2:30 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery located at 6500 south Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah.
Heidi’s resilience, and talent will be forever remembered by those who were fortunate to know her.
A special thank you to Auburn Crest Hospice, especially Jacque Parker, RN as well the many caregivers at Ashford Assisted Living and Memory Care for the care and attention provided.
May she rest in eternal peace.
