Hauati Lapu’Aho

June 26, 1934 — December 1, 2016

Hauati Lapu’aho (82) passed away Thursday December 1, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Hauati was born on June 26, 1934 in Fu’uamotu Tonga to parents Tipasa Lapu’aho and Ma’ata Huia Fa’aoso Tomasi.
He married Barbara Van Orden Rhodes on February 14, 1973 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Hauati was a talented carpenter, musician, and traveler.
He loved serving others, spending time with his family and most of all he truly loved studying the gospel.
He is survived by his three children: Swain (Kristin), Lata (Paul), Kiola and six grandchildren: Alexis, Robert, Keilani, Alissa, Curtis, and Hauati. He is also survived by his sister Lupe and brothers: Tevita Feongoi, Avalisi, and Lihai.
Hauati was preceded in death by both parents, his wife, and siblings: Sione, Losaline, Kiola, Kesaia, Vake, Moala, and Laumanu.
Viewing will be held on Sunday December 11, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. at the Cannon Stake Center, 934 W Fremont Ave. Salt Lake City, Utah 84104. Viewing and services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Cannon 2nd LDS Chapel, 1165 Glendale Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place at Memorial Redwood Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Rd West Jordan, Utah 84123.
