Harry Royal Jr. our beloved Husband, Dad, Papou passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the age of 91. Harry was born September 6, 1922 in Hunter, Utah to Haralambos Royal (Roilos) and Mary Lexis Royal. He was the oldest of 8 children and the first child born in the United States to his Greek immigrant parents. He helped his parents care for each of his younger siblings. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II and was stationed in the Guatal Canal and the islands of the South Pacific. Upon returning from the war he was employed at Kennecott as a machinist for 40+ years and had one of the sharpest minds around. On April 20, 1947 he married the love of his life, Betty Gianelo. At the time of his passing they had been married for almost 67 years. Harry always made sure his family had the best of everything and would work extra hours to provide. Harry and Betty had 2 children, Mary and Paul. His family was his whole world and he will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank, Chris, and Gus, sister Kathryn and daughter-in-law Jeanne. He is survived by his wife, Betty, daughter Mary (Dan) Agrapides, son Paul (Jeanne) Royal, 3 grandchildren Tina (Plato) Pavlatos, Peter (Alexandra) Agrapides, Mary Royal, and 4 great grandchildren George, Dimitri, Isabella, and Sophia Agrapides, sisters Thelma (Lavar) Freeman, Georgia (Bill) Hardy and brother Nick (Barbara) Royal.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11am at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 279 South 300 West, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held Sunday, March 16, from 6-8 pm at the Holy Trinity with Trisagion service at 7pm. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery. May his memory be eternal.
