Harry Merwin Weenig

October 14, 1933 — June 13, 2016

Harry M. Weenig passed away on June 13, 2016, peacefully surrounded by his family. Harry was an All-American football player at Ogden High and played a year at BYU prior to serving a 3-year LDS mission to the Netherlands. Shortly after his mission, he was drafted into the Army and sent to Baumholder, Germany. After his release from the service, Harry started his first business importing specialty foods and gifts. During his career, Harry led several successful businesses in unrelated industries, but he always returned to the food business. He enjoyed imparting his deep knowledge on the origins and history of food products and he loved sharing food. He had a keen ability to select perfectly ripened fruit, imported cheese, and fresh meats. He cherished his family and his membership in the LDS church.
He is preceded in death by his wife (Erma), whom he married in 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple and is survived by their four children: Nancy, Vicki (Jerry), Roger (Mary), and Steven, 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
On Saturday June 18th a viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. and funeral services at 11:00 a.m.; at the Canyon Creek Ward, 7035 Nutree Drive, Cottonwood Heights, UT.
