Harold Hansen

February 14, 1930 — July 18, 2014

Harold D. Hansen, 84, of Holladay, Utah passed away on July 18, 2014. He was born the son of James Orvil and Eva Montgomery Hansen. He grew up in Richfield Utah and graduated from Richfield High in 1948. He married Renee Yergensen on June 14th 1950. They were later divorced. He married Betty Romney on May 15, 1976.
He spent much of his youth helping his father run their service station. This is where his lifelong love for cars started. He could name any make and model of any car on sight. In the 1950’s he moved his family to the Salt Lake Valley where he started his career of 40 years with The Trane Company. He worked as a supervisor at the manufacturing plant and later at their sales office. He also worked part time as a movie projectionist in the 50’s and 60’s at various theatres including The Tower Theatre.
He loved the movies. He had a vast knowledge of Cinema and loved to travel. He spent much of his forties and fifties traveling with his wife Betty. He also loved watching basketball on his “Big Screen TV” with his beagle Heidi.
He was a family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He would do anything for his family and had a huge heart. He was the kind of man who made friends wherever he went. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a great sense of humor and often made his family laugh with his classic one-liners. Harold was a member of the LDS church. He will be missed more than words can say.
He is survived by his children Doris (Stephen) Saxton and Brad Hansen, brother Ronald Hansen, 8 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, son Jeff Hansen and sister Barbara Olson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. July 26, at Murray Memorial Mortuary on 5850 S 900 E, Murray Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at Murray City Cemetery.
