Our beloved husband, father and grandfather left this earthly existence on August 21st surrounded by his loved ones at his home. Harley was born on February 5, 1926 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of William Andrew and Zoy Candland Busby. After graduating from East High School he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving as Radioman II Class. At the end of WWII he attended the University of Utah where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Music. He then served a 2 ½ year LDS mission in France. For over 50 years he was Stake and Ward organist and enjoyed serving for many years in the Salt Lake Temple as an ordinance worker and organist. He was a member of the Tabernacle Choir and sang in a Quartet that won first place in the All-Church Quartet Festival.
On January 19, 1962, he married Virla Bell in the Salt Lake Temple. They became the parents of 3 beautiful daughters who blessed them with 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson all of whom he loved dearly. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Harley worked as an Industrial Engineer for Kennecott Copper and as a teacher of computer data input at Primary Children’s Hospital. He was a hard worker and spent many hours in his yard beautifying it. Harley had a deep love for the Savior. He was Ward and Stake Clerk for over 30 years. For 10 years he and Virla served at the Utah State Prison. There he served as branch clerk, organist and accompanied the Wasatch II Branch Men’s Choir. This was an especially meaningful time in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill. He is survived by his wife, Virla, his daughters Janis (Cary) Hill, Amy (David) Dellenbach, Linda (Phil) Bailey, his 9 grandchildren Ryan, Casey, Heather (Matt) Kiisel, Richard, Andrew, Michael, Parker Jeremy and Kathryn and great grandson Preston.
