Hans-Ulrich Dretke

December 11, 1938 — April 14, 2021

We lost our Papa, Dad, Pops, and Opa on Wednesday April 14, 2021, when he returned to his eternal home where the sweetest reunion took place.
Uli was born December 11, 1938 in Stettin Germany.  He was the son of Willi Artur Dretke and Margarete Helene Boehme.  He immigrated to America in 1965 and settled here in Utah.  Uli married Troudy K. on March 31, 1983 in Salt Lake City and they were sealed for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple March 31,1992.  Since then, the two of them were inseparable, like Dad would say: Two peas in a pod!
Uli loved the outdoors.  He loved fishing, camping and traveling to new places.  He and Troudy were always taking trips somewhere!  Uli loved the sea, he always wanted to work on a sea faring boat as a mechanic or in other ways where he could utilize the many talents he had but he was never able to live that particular dream.  Instead, he found joy in collecting rocks and turning them into polished stones from which he made jewelry, and clocks .
Dad served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints  German Speaking Ward in Salt Lake City.  He loved the Lord and always tried to share the gospel with those around him. In 2001he and Troudy served an 18 month mission to Hamm, Germany, which was one of the highlights in their lives.
Uli is survived by his daughter Annegret (Wynn) Passey, son Jack (Cindy)Vosgerau, daughter Sylvia (Joe) Mattena, son Mike (Susan) Vosgerau, sister-in-law Renate (Dennis) Sherwood and 16 wonderful grandchildren and 31 beautiful great-grandchildren.
Uli is preceded in death by his sweet wife Troudy, his parents, grandson Rusty and great-granddaughters Jade Amaya and Macie Ann.
