Hanna Christine Hoopes

Hanna Christine Hoopes, 22, took her own life on September 23, 2018. She is finally at peace, wrapped in the arms of her beloved Papa and other loved ones, and in the tender care of her Father in Heaven.
Hanna is survived by her parents Eric and Suzie, siblings Stacey (Chad) Truax, Daniel (Jordan Burr), Sarah (Josh) Dimick, Katie (Ben Jussila), nieces Brynlee and Adeline, grandmothers Phyllis Player and Lynne Rasmussen, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Hanna loved music and dance throughout her life. She had a beautiful voice and played the cello. She first performed with the Young Titan Singers at Olympus High School and then later as a cast member in musicals at Olympus Junior High. A graduate of Olympus High School, Hanna was incredibly intelligent and her curiosity drove her to learn many things about a great variety of subjects including foreign languages and literature, veterinary medicine, and culinary arts. Hanna was a deeply caring and compassionate person. She cared for all living things from plants and insects to cats and people. She volunteered at the Humane Society of Utah and the Best Friends Animal Society. Always thoughtful and willing to help, Hanna often combined her creativity and thriftiness to make beautiful gifts for others. Hanna was very well-read, devouring an astounding range of materials, from textbooks to Calvin and Hobbes comics. She especially loved to read fantasy and science fiction. Hanna was also a phenomenal writer of plays, poetry, and short stories. Hanna bravely struggled with mental illness throughout her life yet always found time to apply her witty sense of humor. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who loved and admired her Young Women’s leaders.
Hanna’s sweet personality and genuine kindness will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and many others.
Funeral services and visitations will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2675 E 4430 S, Holladay, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday, September 28th from 6-8 pm and Saturday, September 29th from 9:30-10:30 am. The funeral program will begin at 11 am on Saturday, September 29th. Interment will follow at Memorial Holladay Cemetery, 4900 S Memory Lane, Holladay, Utah.
