Gwen Pehrson

June 23, 1927 — December 1, 2014

Gwen Olsen Pehrson, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Alpine, Utah surrounded by loved ones on December 1, 2014.
Gwen was born and raised in College Ward, Utah on June 23, 1927 to Moses and Coila Olsen. She graduated in 1945 from South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah. She married Paul James Pehrson on March 19, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple, in Logan Utah. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions in Cub Scouts, Primary, Young Women’s, and Relief Society throughout her life.
Gwen enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, gardening, sewing, and working on a variety of art projects. She particularly enjoyed the teaching positions she held in the Church and sharing her testimony. Blessed with a creative streak, she often used her artistic talent to enhance the lives of her family as well as others. Her talents as a homemaker and a seamstress brought many a smile to her children and those around her. She really enjoyed her work with the cub scouts and was also one of the best den mothers ever. Her life was one of service to her family and to others in their times of need. A true pioneer, she and her husband moved to Washington State in 1950. It was a small community where they saw tremendous growth of agricultural development over a 30-year period due to the construction of a large government irrigation project which her husband helped to design.
She is survived by her sister Grace Kofford and her children, daughter LaRee and Rick Heer, son Dean and Lori Pehrson, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Paul, her parents Moses and Coila Olsen, brother Elmer Olsen, sisters Lola Pehrson, Elnora Smith, Ruby Olsen, Rachel Spillman, and grandson Jared Pehrson.
A viewing will be held on Friday December 12, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E. in Murray, Utah. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon in the Millville Cemetery on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Friends and family may leave condolences by going to www. MurrayMemorial.com.
