Gregory Almador Palma Mena

On Saturday, July 25th, 2020, our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and good friend returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father’s home. He was greeted on the other side of the veil by his parents, his son Agustin, grandson Cesar, and several brothers and sisters that preceded him in death.
Gregory was born in Cuzco, Peru in 1923 to Mariano Palma and Maria Mena. He was born into a family who loved him. He was the fifth of nine children. He joined the Army in Peru and was a member of the Peru Police forces. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1964. He was married to Bertha Alejandrina Gamarra and they had five children. He served faithfully and to the best of his abilities in his church callings. He enjoyed public speaking and was known for his beautiful penmanship. He worked for and traveled with the late Peruvian President, Fernando Belaunde Terry during his political campaign, translating from Spanish to Quechua.
He is survived by his five children Robert (Gladys), Wilbert (Deanna), Margot (James), Neli (Roger), Martin (Rosa), 22 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren, and his sister, Antonia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mariano and Maria Mena de Palma, by his siblings, Alicia, Olimpia, Estela, Jose Angel, Julio, Honorata, and Mario.
A viewing will be held on Friday July 31st, from 11am to 1:00pm at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East. The graveside service will follow at the Murray Cemetery, 5490 South Vine Street.

El sábado pasado, 25 de julio de 2020, nuestro querido padre, abuelo, bisabuelo y un buen amigo regreso pacíficamente a su hogar de nuestro Padre Celestial. Él fue recibido, al otro lado del velo por sus padres Mariano E. Palma y María Mena, su hijo Agustín, su nieto César y sus hermanos y hermanas y muchos otros innumerables anfitriones que esperaban su llegada.
Gregorio Amador nació en Cuzco, Perú en 1923 de Mariano Palma y María Mena. Nació en una familia que designada por Dios que lo amaba.
Fue el quinto de nueve hijos que llegaron a ese hogar. Se unió al ejército en Perú muy joven, fue miembro de las fuerzas policiales de Perú. Se unió a la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días en 1964 que cambio totalmente su vida y de su familia. Se casó con Bertha Alejandrina Gamarra, juntos tuvieron cinco hijos. Sirvió fielmente en lo mejor que se pudo en todos los llamamientos que recibió. Era un orador increíble y un escritor con una hermosa caligrafía. Él trabajó y viajó al lado del difunto presidente peruano Fernando Belaunde Terry en sus campañas políticas comunicando el mensaje al pueblo del español al quechua. Gustaba mucho conversar en quechua y compartir sus mensajes he ideas.
Le sobreviven sus cinco hijos Robert (Gladys), Wilbert (Deanna), Margot (James), Nelida (Roger), Martin (Rosa), 22 nietos y 19 bisnietos.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres Mariano Palma, María Mena de Palma, sus hermanos Alicia, Olimpia, Estela, José Ángel, Julio, Honorata y Mario.
El velorio se llevará a cabo el viernes 31 de julio, a partir de las 11 A. M- 1 P.M. en la casa funeraria Memorial Mortuaries localizada en 5850 South 900 East – Murray, Utah 84121 y a la 1:30 p.m. a 2:30 p.m. el mismo día será la dedicación del sepulcro en el Cementerio de la ciudad de Murray localizado en 5490 S. Vine Street – Murray, Utah 84107.
