Grant Marius Warner

August 31, 1941 — September 2, 2019

Grant Marius Warner, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and  friend, passed suddenly on Monday, September 2, 2019.
He was born August 31, 1941 to Melvin Dean Warner and Mildred LaRue Nelson. He was a good brother to his seven younger brothers and sisters. He served honorably in the US Army prior to serving in the North Central States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He was sealed for time and eternity to his beloved eternal companion, Emily Anna Olsen, in the Salt Lake Temple on June 20, 1969. Their union was blessed with five children and six grandchildren.
Grant spent his life serving his family and neighbors. He served tirelessly as the Membership Clerk of the Salt Lake Riverside First Ward for decades, thoroughly enjoying the opportunity it gave him to associate with his ward family.
Grant was always willing to help, giving countless hours of service whenever necessary. People knew Grant could be counted on to be wherever and whenever needed. From getting up in the middle of the night to serve his mother-in-law who needed to see the Provo Temple, to performing numerous maintenance and repairs for family and friends, Grant was always willing to serve. Grant spent his retirement years serving at The Bishop’s Storehouse at Welfare Square. He served there most days and leaves a void that will be hard to fill.
He was also willing to stand up for what he believed in. He successfully ran for Member of the Salt Lake City Board of Education with the main goal of ensuring  Jackson Elementary School was rebuilt in a timely manner. He was also instrumental in many difficult boundary decisions in an attempt to encourage equity between the east and west sides of the school district.
Grant is survived by his wife and children: JoAnn (Richard) Warner-Kenney, Cheryl Warner, William (Juliet), James and Gwen (Bill) Parkin, and grandchildren Sima and Cyrus Sharafnia, Thomas, Hyram and Isaiah Kenney. He is also survived by his siblings, Rosalyn (Fred) Ochsenhirt, Paul (Maryll), Mark (Hillary), Richard (Leslie) and Laurie (Craig) Jacobsen, sister-in-law Jane Warner and brother-in-law Kenneth Gerber.
Preceded in death by his parents, grandson Brady Parkin, brother Sterling, and sister Melanee Gerber.
