Gordon Shakespeare Atuaia

October 22, 1995 — October 28, 2020

Gordon Shakespeare Atuaia, beloved son, brother, brother-in-law, and friend passed away at the age of 25 on October 28 in Salt Lake County, Utah. Gordon was born on October 22, 1995 in the Camp Lester U.S. Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. As an Air Force dependent, he spent the majority of his early childhood raised on military bases overseas in Okinawa, Guam, and mainland Japan. His teenage years were spent in Moreno Valley California where he eventually graduated from Valley View High School. On June 2014, Gordon departed from the Ironwood Ward to serve a 2 year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Washington Everett mission. After completing his mission, he rejoined his family in Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah briefly and ultimately found a job he loved as a lab technician in an infectious disease lab that assisted with COVID-19 test processing.
Gordon had a myriad of favorite hobbies and pastimes. He loved learning about all Asian cultures, especially exploring Korean and Japanese cultures, languages, and foods. He was a movie fan, but really liked to watch Anime such as Fairy Tail and Haikyū!!. He also enjoyed gaming. League of Legends was his top choice, but he generally favored multiplayer games involving strategy and connecting with his close friends and family. Outside, Gordon delighted in hiking through Utah’s beautiful canyon trails, road trips, and occasionally camping. Writing short stories and singing were hidden passions that he shared with a lucky select few. His witty sense of humor and contagious laugh were consistent parts of any conversation with Gordon.
Gordon is survived by his mother and father: Amy and Siaki; older brothers: Jason, Marcus, Benjamin, and Christopher; sisters-in-law: Cynthia, Lucy, and Shawny; Grandma Sophronia; Grandma Vai’malama; and countless cousins, aunts, and uncles whose lives he touched.
Our family would like to thank our extended family, friends, and colleagues for the outpouring of love and support shown for Gordon and our family.
A memorial and burial service will be held on Monday, November 2 at the Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery. Face coverings are required to enter the building.
