Gordon Robert Milne (94) graduated from his mortal existence on September 27, 2021, reuniting with family and friends in the spirit world. He was born in Salt Lake City, the second of three children of Marion and LaVern Milne. He was a graduate of South High School and the University of Utah. He served his country for 14 months at a US Naval air base in Texas at the end of World War II. He continued his service to country as a federal civil servant at Utah’s Hill Air Force Base for 39 years. At his retirement, the base general awarded Gordon the Department of the Air Force Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award in recognition of his significant achievements, outstanding federal career service and extensive managerial and logistics expertise. Gordon had a life-long passion for golf. He played in amateur left-handed golf tournaments throughout the country. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteering for many years at the Salt Lake Temple laundry and at the Thanksgiving Point Golf Club. Of most importance to Gordon was his eternal family. He celebrated his 66th wedding anniversary with his sweetheart, Wanda, 5 days before his passing. They met at Hill Air Force Base and made their home in Bountiful, Utah for 43 years and Cedar Hills for the last 22 years. Surviving Gordon are his wife, Wanda, brother, Steve, children, Charlene Petersen (Larry), Corey Milne (Carol) and Shelly Thacker (Bryce), 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
On Saturday, October 2, at Cedar Hills 10th Ward building, 9737 Chesterfield Drive, Cedar Hills, Utah, a viewing will be held from 10:30-11:30 am, funeral service at 12:00 noon and family luncheon at 1:00. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm at Memorial Lakeview Cemetery mausoleum at the southwest corner at 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
