Gordon Ririe Flygare

Gordon Ririe Flygare, 86, returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father on July 30, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. He was born to John Kenneth Flygare, Sr. and Mariam Ann Ririe on April 18, 1932 in Provo, Utah. He was the second of four children. He was raised in Provo, Utah where he graduated from Provo High in 1951. Gordon attended BYU and ran track where he completed the mile in 4:17.
He served in the Air Force from 1952–1956 where he worked on the bomb sites of the B-47. He then served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Sweden, Stockholm mission. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life.
He returned to BYU where he met his eternal companion, Sharon (Sheri) Leal Savage, “someone who he could get along with”, of 58 years. They were married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on June 2, 1960. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 45 years. Twelve years in Longmont, Colorado and was later transferred to Utah where they bought a home in Bountiful. They raised six amazing children; five beautiful daughters and one okay looking son. He loved spending time with his family in Lake Powell. He also loved hunting, tennis, golf, running and teasing those around him. He loved his grandchildren and they loved him. He had a great sense of humor and we laughed often.
Preceded in death by his parents; Kenneth and Mariam Flygare, siblings Kenneth Jr., Wayne, Dorathy, and daughter-in-law Susan West Flygare. Survived by his wife Sheri, children Cathy (Dale) Ohlson, Carrie (Jeff) Norman, Gordie Flygare, Christi (Scott) Sizemore, Carolee (Scott) Argyle, and Cindy (Wade) Longman, 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 4th at 11:00 am at the Bountiful Hills LDS meeting house, 1200 E. Bountiful Hills Drive. A viewing will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at 1200 E. Bountiful Hills Drive and prior to the funeral from 9:30 am-10:30 am.
Interment will occur following the services at the Memorial Lakeview Cemetery; 1640 E. Lakeview Drive.
