Gordon James (Jim) Cardwell

May 9, 1943 — April 6, 2018

Gordon James (Jim) Cardwell passed away peacefully in his home on April 6, 2018 in Salt Lake City, UT as a result of a cardiac arrest. He was 74.
Jim was born on May 9, 1943 in Salt Lake City, UT to Gordon and Hilda Longden Cardwell. He graduated from Highland High School, and although he was one of the most intelligent men we’ve known, in his words, college “was not for me”. He married Vicki Montague August 25, 1965. Together they had three children, Christian, Dru, & Steven.  They later divorced and he married his sweetheart, Donna Scheiderider June 30, 2000 and they were together until her death in 2014.
Jim was a wonderful father, grandfather, great friend and mentor.  He was an extremely hard worker and although he had other employment, he was most proud of his business, Rocky Mountain GeoChemical. He employed his children and many, many others during those years, inspiring in each a strong work ethic.  He touched many lives with his wisdom, repeated stories, compassion and love.  He truly loved his sons, their wives and their children.  He was so proud of each and every thing they accomplished in their lives.
Jim is survived by his sons Christian (Stefanie), Dru (Christy) and his grandchildren, Taylor, Collin, Dylan, Nicholas, Lauren & Ryan. His wife, Donna and youngest son, Steve, preceded him in death.
Respecting Jim’s wishes, he will be cremated and no services will be held.  A celebration of his life will take place on April 14 from 4-6 pm at 1776 E. 7020 S., Cottonwood Heights. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life with his family and friends.
