Gordon Elmer Tempest

Gordon E. Tempest was born February 21, 1941, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Preston D. Tempest and Marie Strong Tempest.  Gordon passed away January 25, 2021.  He was known in his youth for his dashing good looks, funny personality, and love of classic cars.  He was an ambitious self-learner and educated himself on various topics including a love of world war history and American history.  He enjoyed restoring and repairing cars, collecting memorabilia, and dabbling in many hobbies and other collectibles.
Gordon graduated from West High School in 1959 and joined the Army Reserves in 1963 at Fort Ord, California.  He lived on the west side of Salt Lake City all his life and enjoyed a quiet life in his home with friends and family.  Gordon was a union man and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for many years.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents Preston Doyle Tempest (father), Marie Strong Tempest (mother), and Dee Tempest (brother).  He is survived by Theron Richard Tempest (brother), Marge Marie Tempest (sister), Wendy Nish Kirkwood (daughter, married to John), Colby Nish (grandson), Bailey Nish (granddaughter), and Kingston Joseph (great-grandson).
Gordon will be greatly missed by his devoted brother and sister, his loving daughter and her family, and his friends and the west side community.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care and special treatment Gordon received for COVID-19 at the Intermountain Health Care Hospital in Murray, Utah.
Gordon was interred at Memorial Redwood Cemetery following his death.
