Gloria Sharples Taylor Demke

January 1, 1932 — June 11, 2016

Gloria Sharples Taylor Demke, 84, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 of colon cancer. She was born January 1, 1932 to Lawrence Taylor and Grace LaVern Sharples. She was a graduate of Granite High School and Steven’s Henagar Business College. She served an LDS mission to the Southern Australia Mission, where she served under Elder Bruce R. McConkie.
Gloria was an active member of the LDS church. She served in numerous callings her whole life, most recently as a temple worker in the Draper Temple Baptistry and primary teacher. During her youth, she sang in the Sacra Dulce Choir where she made lifelong friends performing for numerous wards and firesides.
As a bookkeeper, she worked for many different companies, most recently with United Optical where she worked up until her cancer diagnosis. She was never one to not be busy. You would often find her working in her garden, tending to her roses, or reaching out to those in need.
She married Wilford Jacob Demke September 5, 1973 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She is survived by her son Benjamin (Heather) South Jordan; stepchildren: Tim (Diana), St George; Steven (Carrie) CA; Michael (Sandi) CA; Susan (Tony) Meisel CA; 29 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by her husband, two sisters, brother and stepson: Jeff (Loretta).
Funeral services Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11 am at the Willowcreek 7th Ward, 2115 East Creek Road (8200 South). Viewing, Fri. 6-8 pm at the Willowcreek 7th Ward and one hour prior to services at the church. Internment, Mountain View Memorial Estates.
