Gloria Painter

March 16, 1925 — April 6, 2014

Gloria Frances Sherman Painter, born March 16, 1925 in Ogden, Utah, passed away
peacefully on April 6, 2014. The only daughter of Vern Alonzo Sherman and Eva Evelyn
Flowers, she married Robert William Painter in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together
they had 6 children, Lynne (Tim) Meadows, Dawn (Barry) Sutton, Michael, Les (Nida),
Steven (Monica) and Sherry (John) Njord, 22 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren.
She was proud of her German heritage and had the opportunity to return to Germany
from 1959-1962 with her husband and children. She served as mother to the Frankfurt
branch and did work in the Swiss temple. This was a cherished highlight of her life.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years for Western OBGYN. She
was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in
several capacities both at home and abroad. In her later years she served several
missions at Welfare Square. She loved her family dearly, passing on a love for cooking,
especially chocolate making. Her devotion to family and sense of humor will be greatly
missed.
