GLORIA CRITCHFIELD – Wife, mom, sister, aunt, niece… and friend, died unexpectedly Dec. 28 2014, at Sandy Health and Rehabilitation, Sandy, Utah; where she touched many lives!!
She was born February 27, 1934, the third of six children in Bingham Canyon (Dinkeyville-Salt Lake County), to Joe B. and Elvira Pacheco.
Gloria attended Granite High School and later transferred to Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City.
She enjoyed countless friendships over the years and married her life partner, Mark Critchfield, in 1966; they built their family together in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The couple had a Brady Bunch type set up (his, hers, & theirs).
Gloria thoroughly enjoyed her part of raising six kids, who have gone on to bless the family with 14 grandkids and 4 great-great grandkids.
Gloria enjoyed dinner out, visiting with family, game shows, overnight stays in Wendover, hair day, and the SL tribune!!
Her career took her through retail, management, accounting, and social services.
Gloria’s professional life also included administrative positions at South East Furniture, Granite Furniture, and the original book keeper for the original Artic Circle National Headquarters downtown Salt Lake City, a position she held for several years.
Venturing together with her husband Mark to operate companies in the construction industry…
Glo, as many of the family call her, was instrumental in countless fund raising efforts and donation drives to help women, children and the less fortunate progress into self sufficiency… this passion ultimately led her to becoming the Program Director for Catholic Community Services in Salt Lake City.
Gloria was always up to the task, she was a dedicated volunteer for many years in the Hillview Western Boys Baseball Association. Gloria is one of the original Utah BMX (Bicycle Motocross) moms… She would gladly take on volunteer responsibilities, and was instrumental in bringing the first Great Salt Lake BMX National to Utah.
After the races Glo would make sure that those on her watch were fed, had a place to sleep and would oft times wash clothes to make sure the racers in her camp had a fresh clean uniform for the next day.
