Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Glenna Willis Meadows passed away on 19 October 2014 with family at her side in South Jordan, Utah (UT). Glenna was born 10 July 1927 in Richfield, UT. to John William and Rachel Ella Savage Willis. She spent her early years in Junction, UT., until the family moved to Vernal UT., where her father was a trapper for the US Government. She moved to Oakland, CA. to attend high school, while living with her sister Thella. She returned to Vernal, where in 1946 she was crowned Rodeo Queen. Glenna married Elmer Charles Meadows on 15 August 1947 in Vernal, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 8 May 1953. She is the mother of eight children who she dearly loved: Connie (Wade) Jewkes, Jim (Terri) Meadows, Brenda Hill, Brent (Jolene) Meadows, Cynthia (Jody) Davis, Bill (Nikki) Meadows, Mark (Andrea) Meadows, and Laura Meadows, and a MOM to MANY others. There was always plenty of room at our table for those extras that came around. She enjoyed many years in sales of Tupperware, Yellow Ribbon, Rubbermaid, Vanda Beauty Counselors, and many others. Glenna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she served in many positions. She also served in the PTA when her children were in school.
Survived by her eight children and spouses, 43 Grandchildren, 36 Great-Grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her sister Mary “Bessie” Lauchnor, Elmer’s siblings, Elva, Lee (Donna), Harry, and Dan. Preceded in death by her loving husband Elmer, parents, and siblings: Maynard, Thella, Dale, Rita and Ovid.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 25 Oct. 2014 at the Cottonwood Heights 1st Ward, 2245 E. 7075 So., at 12 noon with a viewing from 10:30 – 11:30 am. A viewing will be held on Friday 24 October 2014 at the Mountain View Mortuary 6 – 8 pm, located at 3115 E. 7800 So. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped our mother over the last few years at Coventry, CareSource, Carrington Court and Brighton Hospice, especially Ryan, Diane and Emily.
