Glenda Joy Evans (née Anderson) passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 89 in South Jordan, Utah. Glenda was born on October 12, 1934, in Spring Glen, Utah, to Leo and Winona Haycock Anderson.
Glenda dedicated over 50 years to a fulfilling nursing career after graduating first from St Marks’ Nursing School and then from the University of Utah School of Nursing. Glenda also taught nursing for 17 years at Salt Lake Community College. Her compassion and love for caring for others were evident throughout her profession.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Glenda found solace and community in her worship. She was known for her unwavering devotion to her faith, her neighbors, and her community.
In her personal life, Glenda was a loving wife to the late Donald H. Evans, who she married in the Salt Lake temple in 1957. She was a devoted mother to Christy Warrington, Aaron Evans, Glen Evans, and Alisa Seeberger. Glenda is survived by her sister Leah Olsen, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Leo Anderson, mother Winona Haycock Anderson, daughter Cheri Anderson, and great-grandson Boston.
Glenda's interests were varied from water-coloring to gardening, spending time in the temple and in finding joy in the simplest act of doing laundry. Her dedication to her family, neighbors, and church defined her character, making her a cherished life-long member of her community.
A memorial service in honor of Glenda will be held from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on May 11, 2024, at the LDS Chapel on 3671 Oldham Street, West Valley City, Utah 84120, followed by an 2:00pm internment service at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
The funeral arrangements are entrusted to LDS Chapel located at 3671 Oldham Street, West Valley City, Utah. Glenda’s legacy of love and service will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched.
