Glen Shields
April 8, 1936 — May 25, 2021
Our Beloved Husband and Father finished his mortal journey on May 25, 2021 in Holladay, Utah at the age of 85. Words cannot express how much he is loved by many and how deeply he will be missed.
Glen met Maria Mortensen at South High where they graduated in 1955. He also attended the University of Utah.
Glen married Maria Mortensen on May 1, 1957. Shortly after being married, he served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was an extremely hard worker all of his life and gratefully instilled this work ethic into his children.
Glen was a Steel Contractor and Expert Welder. He also worked at Cox Creek Refinery in Baltimore, Maryland and Kimball Equipment.
Glen was loved and respected by all who were blessed to know him. He was friendly to everyone and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and married in the Salt Lake Temple.
Glen loved the outdoors. He loved to golf and ski and really excelled at both. He enjoyed hunting and fishing also. He especially loved fishing on his boat in Alaska.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Mortensen Shields as well as 3 children: Scott (Rebecca) of Millcreek, UT; Carol (Robert) of Sandy UT; and Laurie (Rick) of Billings, MT; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Agnes Shields and brothers Ted and Gordon.
He will forever be our Beloved Sweet “Budsie”.
