Glen Oviatt Christensen

December 29, 1932 — July 21, 2021

Glen Oviatt Christensen, a valiant, righteous man, left this mortal life at the age of 88 within a year of the death of his beloved wife, Carol Ann Christensen, of over 70 years. He was the 7th of 8 children born to Clarence Andrew and Lorena Elizabeth Christensen in Ephraim, Utah.
Dad loved raising calves, pigeons, and an occasional hog, as well as a huge garden on his acreage. But raising children and grandchildren there was his greatest joy. Dad always had projects going on and patiently allowed children and grandchildren to “help” him, thereby extending the project times into hours instead of minutes. He was a legend with his building skills which included homes, duplexes, many finished basements, garages, kayaks, and the self-worth of his children. He could be found reading western or spy novels or playing games with his family where he was very creative in interpreting the rules to his advantage. He insisted he didn’t cheat. All of his grandsons (and many granddaughters) may have topped his 5’8″ frame, but he towered over all in his ability to show unconditional love. He had an uncanny talent for connecting with his children and making each feel they were his favorite.
He worked as a milkman for HiLand Dairy and, as such, had to rise early to run his route. In the evenings, he would always sit with mom to watch TV with his eyes shut. She would say “Glen, go to bed!” and he would reply, “I’m just resting my eyes” or “I’m checking my eyelids for holes.” He was able to retire in his 50s because he was brilliant and understood real estate even without formal schooling.
He was an optimist and found a silver lining in everything. After suffering a stroke in his 70s, dad was shown the MRI of his brain where a black hole was visible. Thereafter, whenever mom would ask him if he took care of something he had promised to do but hadn’t done yet, he would reply, “I don’t remember that, it must have gone into the black hole.”
Loved ones who welcomed him into the spirit world included his wife, Carol; son, Dirk; grandson, Carson Koch; his parents; brothers Merrill, Kenneth and LaMar; sisters Lorna, Omera and Phyllis; many in-laws and nieces and nephews. He is survived by his children Roxann (John) Glassey, Sandy, UT; Debra (Kent) Lundgreen, Providence, UT; Lance (Becky) Christensen, Bluffdale, UT; Chad (Kristen) Christensen, South Jordan, UT; Jody (Chris) Koch, St. George, UT; and Shawn (Molly) Christensen, St. George, UT; daughter-in-law Laura Christensen; brother Peter Dallan (Diane) Christensen; brother-in-law Jay (Phyllis) Deuel; 28 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Carrington Court whose staff kindly served Glen & Carol for several years prior to their passing.
We honor this great man for teaching us to work hard, and love it, and to also work hard at the gospel of Jesus Christ, and love it. He served faithfully for many years as a ward financial clerk for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was called as a service missionary which he loved. He expressed his regret at not serving a proselytizing mission but felt he had contributed to the conversion of at least 7 people–his children. His faith and deeds live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will continue on through his posterity for the eternities.
Viewing will be held from 10-11 on Thursday, July 29th, at the Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, UT. Funeral will follow at 11AM. There will also be a live feed for those who cannot attend.
