Glen Lee

October 30, 1922 — May 27, 2018

On October 30th 1922, Glenister Edmond Lee (Glen), a man of gentle kindness and good will, was born in Torrey, Utah to Elanor Cox and Charles William Lee. Third of four, Glen had an older brother, Philemon, and younger sisters, Joyce, and Carma. He was also a half-brother to the eleven sons and daughters from his Father’s previous marriage. Glen’s early days in Torrey were of a happy country life. He loved the wild picturesque land and found joy in nature throughout his life.
His parents eventually divorced but Glen loved them both dearly, spending time in Salt Lake and in Torrey. Glen attended West High School until his senior year when he was drafted into the United States Army. He served in France as an MP and Radio Operator specializing in International Morse Code. His dedicated service as a Corporal was recognized recently with a Certificate of Appreciation by The United States Army Air Corp. At war’s end, he returned to Salt Lake City and was credited his West High School diploma. He next graduated from LDS Business College in 1950.
He met and married LaVern VanQuill and they brought five children into the world: Glenna, Terry, Holly Sue, Rodger, and Shannon. As they lived in the Avenues in Salt Lake City, a single visit by a home teacher from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints encouraged Glen to reconnect with the teachings and beloved faith of his childhood. LaVern and Glen were sealed in the LDS Temple. LaVern preceded Glen in death after her battle with cancer.
At the age of 69 Glen fell deeply in love with Kathrine (Kay) White Airmet. They married for time on September 21, 1990 and were sealed in the Mesa LDS Temple the following spring on March 26, 1991. He moved into her home in Rose Park and found happiness in the Rose Park Second Ward. With his marriage came the blessing of growing his family, his added children from Kay are: Matthew, Bradley, Don, Arla, Aleta, Angela and Jamison.
Glen worked well into his 90’s. He worked for Terminex Pest Control. Later, with Kay, he returned to real estate and owned Spectra Realty Network. Through his good friend, Bob Kendall, Glen met his nephew Mike Kendall. They worked many happy and productive years together selling land in Roosevelt, Utah. His way of life was always to love people. He brought joy and acceptance to anyone and everyone he met.
Glen had many interests and pursuits including fishing, hunting, boating and basketball. He spent countless hours enjoying these activities with Kay and family and friends. During their almost 28 years of marriage, Glen and Kay were blessed to serve together in many callings, lastly as that of Ward Greeters, performed as long as Glen’s health allowed. In addition to his children, Glen and Kay have an impressive 175 progeny. He passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2018, a Sabbath Day.
